McGlinnen School is certainly among unique Elementary Schools in Michigan, with a diverse, and often times, vulnerable student population, operating in a small supportive class structure (208 students in grades PK–5, and a student teacher ratio of 12–15 to 1, providing greater, and more individualized, support as compared to schools that enroll a larger population). McGlinnen staff works very hard to use all supports the school can offer and tabulation with families to develop learning opportunities to inform the student success gap. Almost 90% of our population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. McGlinnen School is an important anchor in the community to help support equity and other organizations providing services. Academic challenges notwithstanding, McGlinnen School is still dedicated to ushering in to our main focus items building the confidence, resilience and success of every child in our care and is still one of the most committed Elementary Schools in Michigan.
