About Merritt Trace Elementary School

Located in San Jose, California, Merritt Trace Elementary School is an exciting TK–5 school within the San Jose Unified School District. The school has an extremely diverse student population of over 800 students, including significant minority backgrounds with more than 80% of the student population identifying as a diverse and varying minority backgrounds. Trace values student growth for both academic success and social-emotional learning through PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to help promote a school environment of safe, respectful, and responsible behavior. The school has a solid English learner program, as well as opportunities for visual and performing arts, orchestra, and after-school enrichment clubs like chess, Lego, math recruitment and others. Merritt Trace at all times exhibits or embodies aspects of creativity, critical thinking, and community. School culture has recently been re-energized in new leadership with an acute focus on student achievement and inclusion.
