Latest News

Chollas/Mead Elementary is in the news this December for its second annual Winter Holiday Toy Giveaway, which brings holiday cheer to students who need it. With only a few days until Christmas, every student—more than 600 kids—got a free, wrapped gift that their teachers picked out and parent volunteers wrapped. This made everyone on campus happy and excited. As kids shared their wish lists and took part in holiday activities, a surprise visit from "Santa Claus" made the magic even better. The school cares a lot about its community, and Principal Kristi Hunter-Clark said that the celebration means a lot to families who are having trouble making ends meet. Most of the students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. The school was able to give away gifts thanks to partnerships with community groups that help local kids during the holidays.
