The public elementary school Benchley/Weinberger Elementary School in San Diego, California, serves students in grades K–5. The school has about 400 to 450 students and a student-teacher ratio of 26:1, which is a little higher than the state average but not unusual in urban districts. The school offers an academic program in English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies that meets state standards. It focuses on integrating technology, learning through projects, and developing social and emotional skills. There are a lot of different kinds of students at the school, with about 60–65% being minorities, mostly Hispanic, but also White, Asian, and multiracial students. USA News data shows that about 74% of students are good at math and 75% are good at reading and language arts. This is better than the average for the district. Benchley/Weinberger Elementary is a Title I-funded school, which means it gets extra money to help with learning and enrichment programs. The school is in a family-friendly neighborhood in San Diego and is known for having a good learning environment, good academic results, and being involved in the community.

Being Updated
Last???????????????? time, the media took a look at the benchley/weinberger elementary school, right? That's basically what set off all the coverage: the school's arts integration program that, first of all, includes the whole campus and, secondly, mixes the core academic subjects with the visual arts. This semester students have been doing experiments that combine art with reading, math, and science lessons. The projects culminated in a school-wide show that was attended by a lot of families. There was student art, presentations, and group performances at the event, all of which demonstrated how creative expression can facilitate people's understanding in all subjects.
The teachers at Benchley/Weinberger remarked that the program has invigorated the students to become more participative and self-assured, particularly in those classes where they usually find the traditional lecture-style method of teaching challenging. Parents and guardians of the students commended the school for providing different types of learning that suit children's strengths and interests.
