See top schools in LancasterEastside Academy / Transitional Learning Center is a public alternative school in Lancaster, California, that serves students in grades 7 through 12. The school is meant to help students who learn best in a more structured and personalized setting. The school has a low student-teacher ratio of about 5:1, which means that there are usually fewer than 200 students enrolled. This allows for close academic and behavioral support. The school focuses on helping students stay on track for graduation by offering credit recovery, independent study, and other types of education. According to U.S. News, about 25% of students are good at math and 25% are good at reading. This shows how hard school is for these students. Eastside Academy serves a very diverse group of students, most of whom are from minority groups and low-income families. The average amount of money the district gives each student is between $12,000 and $14,000. This money pays for counseling, intervention services, and specialized instruction. The school is in eastern Lancaster and is very important for getting at-risk students back into school and on the road to graduation.
