San Diego, California's Curie Elementary School is a public elementary school that is part of the San Diego Unified School District. The school has about 420 to 450 students in kindergarten through fifth grade and keeps a student-teacher ratio of 24:1. Curie Elementary uses a curriculum that is in line with state standards and focuses on core subjects like reading, writing, math, and social-emotional learning. Science, technology, the arts, and physical education are also important parts of the curriculum. The student body is very diverse, with about 55–60% of students identifying as racial or ethnic minorities. This shows that the school is open to all cultures. Curie Elementary is above the district and state averages in terms of academic performance, with 84% of students being good at math and 80% being good at reading. The amount spent per student is in line with district standards and helps pay for student services and instructional programs. The school is in a neighborhood with homes, so it is a safe and stable place to learn.

Being Updated
The media is paying a lot of attention to Curie Elementary right now. The reason is that the community has finished the Curie STEAM Academy's annual after-school program. It was very popular with families this year, so it reached its full capacity, with some grade levels having a waiting list. The STEAM Academy focused on activities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. It gave students extra time to learn outside of regular school hours by combining homework help with hands-on activities and creative exploration.
Curie Elementary is also still taking part in district-wide expanded learning programs that focus on after-school programs as the most important ways for students to grow physically and mentally.
The school leaders are getting ready for winter break and plan to use the feedback to make the STEAM programs better next year and help the students keep growing.
