Being Updated
Carthay Elementary Of Environmental Studies Magnet in Los Angeles, California, is full of energy! The school's PTA is running a Fall Giving Drive to raise $110,000 for student programs like family workshops, hands-on science-based cooking and gardening classes, and support for P.E. staff. The school's emphasis on environmental studies and sustainability is clear in its successful garden, where students grow their own fruits and vegetables.
The school is also part of a one-of-a-kind research project. It has a BioSCAN sampling station in collaboration with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. This project is looking into the diversity of life in cities, and surprisingly, a new type of insect was found on campus! Carthay Elementary Of Environmental Studies Magnet is really making a difference in Los Angeles by focusing on teaching kids about the environment and getting them involved in the community.
