Winchester Avenue Elementary School is a public school in Martinsburg, West Virginia, that serves students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. It is part of the Berkeley County Schools district. The school has about 450 to 470 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of 22:1, which is typical for the district because classes are bigger. There are a lot of different kinds of students at the school. About 35% of them are from minority groups, such as African American, Hispanic, multiracial, and others. Winchester Avenue Elementary focuses on teaching the basics of reading, math, and language arts, as well as enrichment activities and programs that help students grow socially and emotionally. Academic performance data show that the student is good at math (50%) but not so good at reading and English language arts (30%). This shows that they are good at math but need to work on their reading skills. Funding per student is in line with district standards and helps pay for classroom materials, teaching programs, and services that help students. The school is in a suburban Martinsburg neighborhood and has engaged families and a good school culture. Overall, Winchester Avenue Elementary School is a good place to learn.
