Standing Bear Elementary School is located at 15860 Taylor Street, Omaha, serving the northwest Omaha area. The school serves grades PK–5 and enrolls about 639 students. The student–teacher ratio is approximately 18:1. Recent data show about 76% of students are proficient in math and about 68% in reading. The student body is about 54% male and 46% female. Standing Bear Elementary School is ranked among the top elementary schools in Nebraska, thanks to its excellent academic performance and strong family involvement.

Standing Bear Elementary School’s PTO held a Panera Night Out fundraiser on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The school earned 25% of proceeds from orders that mentioned Standing Bear.
Q1. How does Standing Bear help students learn how to think about their goals early on?
Ans. Students write down short-term goals in their class journals and then talk about how they are doing with the teacher's help.
Q2. What words does the school use to teach basic map directions?
Ans. Simple navigation tasks and early social studies lessons help students learn words like "left," "right," "near," and "far."
Q3. What methods help students learn about simple economic transactions?
Ans. In OPS lessons, students look at situations where they have to decide between what they want and what they need, and they also learn how people buy and sell things.
Q4. How does Standing Bear help with understanding early data?
Ans. Students look at simple class graphs and figure out which group has more, fewer, or the same number of things.
Q5. How does the school help students start their day in a calm way?
Ans. Teachers use breathing reminders, quiet signals, and posted expectations to help students get ready for group work quickly.
