Being Updated
Spring Lake Magnet Center is supporting the district’s “Moonshot” goal for all students to read at grade level by 2030. Staff and students are using a Science of Reading approach with dedicated literacy time and interactive lessons.
Q1. What does Spring Lake do to help bilingual literacy routines?
Ans. The school uses a dual-language instructional model, so students do structured reading and vocabulary activities in both English and Spanish.
Q2. How does the magnet theme teach us to care for the environment?
Ans. The school's magnet focus means that classrooms discuss recycling, conservation habits, and how to take care of the environment in the community.
Q3. What chances do students have to make connections between languages?
Ans. Students compare cognates, sentence patterns, and shared vocabulary during bilingual lessons to help them understand better.
Q4: How does Spring Lake use nature-based observation in its lessons?
Ans. As part of the environmental magnet curriculum, teachers have students observe the schoolyard, keep track of the seasons, and collect simple data.
Q5. How do teachers help students switch languages easily while they are learning?
Ans. Staff use set language-use schedules and visual cues so that students know exactly when each language is being used.
Note: Schedules may change during school holidays. Please contact School for exact Schedule.
