Hitchcock Elementary School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new book vending machine donated by the TeamMates Mentoring Program. Students can earn tokens through the school’s positive behavior system to redeem for a free book.
Q1. How does Hitchcock help people read nonfiction?
Ans. As part of the district's literacy instruction, students learn how to use headings, captions, and diagrams to understand informational texts.
Q2. What does the school do to help students learn how to count in math?
Ans. Teachers use number lines, ten frames, and hands-on activities to help students see how many things there are and get better at math.
Q3. What routines help students do their arrival tasks on their own?
Ans. Students take out their materials, read the morning messages, and start their warm-up work with a set of clear rules.
Q4. How does Hitchcock start talking about science that is based on observations?
Ans. Students learn about physical properties in early science lessons by using magnifiers, comparison charts, and sensory descriptions.
Q5. How does the school encourage students to work together on projects in class?
Ans. Students take on roles, share responsibilities, and use communication prompts that help them learn together.
