Harrison Elementary School celebrated National Special Education Day on December 3, 2025. The event recognized the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and honored the school’s Special Education team.
Q1. What does Harrison do to help students of all grades learn new words?
Ans. Teachers use explicit word instruction, context routines, and visual aids that are in line with OPS literacy practices to help students build a strong vocabulary.
Q2. What chances do students have to learn through music?
Ans. Harrison teaches music in the district, where students learn about rhythm, melody, and performance through OPS fine arts standards.
Q3. How does the school help students learn how to classify things?
Ans. Students sort things, look at their properties, and use charts to organize information in math and science lessons that follow the OPS standards.
Q4. What does Harrison do to help people feel positive about giving speeches?
Ans. Teachers use structured sharing time, practice speeches, and guided storytelling to help students strengthen their speaking skills.
Q5. What habits teach kids to be responsible when they use technology?
Ans. Students follow the rules for taking care of their devices, signing in, and using technology safely and responsibly that are set by the school district.
