Druid Hill Elementary School shared districtwide updates from Omaha Public Schools regarding accreditation and the “Moonshot” literacy goal for all students to read at grade level by 2030. The school continues to align its programs and efforts with these district priorities.
Q1. How does Druid Hill use community helpers to help students learn?
Ans. Students learn about local helpers and community roles in grade-level social studies. This helps them understand how neighborhoods work.
Q2: How does the school help kids learn to solve math problems early on?
Ans. Teachers use story problems, manipulatives, and guided strategy talks that are in line with OPS math practices.
Q3. What routines help students learn how to work well with a partner?
Ans. In classrooms, students learn how to work together respectfully by using turn-taking structures, shared task cards, and communication prompts.
Q4. How does Druid Hill promote curiosity by having people look at nature?
Ans. Students engage in outdoor walks, plant studies, and simple recording activities that align with OPS science standards.
Q5. What do teachers do to encourage responsible behavior in the hallways?
Ans. Students adhere to the posted rules, maintain silence, and receive praise for their compliance.
