Daniel, a young coder, presented his Chef Trainer project using a micro:bit. The project simulates an oven’s temperature control knob with an analog potentiometer on pin 2 and controls an LED on pin 1 to represent heat levels. The code continuously reads the potentiometer’s value, maps it to a brightness range corresponding to heat levels, and updates the LED display to indicate the oven’s temperature, simulating real-life knob turning. Daniel demonstrated how turning the knob gradually increases the heat level from low to maximum. His project reflects an understanding of analog inputs, LED output control, and real-world simulation.
Daniel beamed as he began, “Hi, my name is Daniel. I love coding because it lets me create cool things. Today, I’ll present my Chef Trainer project.”
He described the idea behind his project: “It’s a simulator for a chef learning how to use an oven. The oven’s temperature is controlled by a knob—just like in real life.”
Daniel showed his screen filled with code blocks. “I set up a potentiometer on pin 2 to read the knob’s position and an LED on pin 1 to show the oven’s heat.”
He walked through the main loop: “While the program runs, it reads the knob’s analog value, maps it to a brightness level for the LED, and shows images representing different heat levels.”
In his live demonstration, as he turned the physical knob, the LED grew brighter, simulating the oven heating up. “If the chef needs a higher temperature, turning the knob raises the heat indicator up to five levels.”
His teacher praised him: “Daniel completed this project within one hour—an impressive feat. You clearly understand how to read analog inputs and control outputs.”
Daniel’s parents shared their appreciation: “We’re proud of Daniel’s learning and confidence.”
Ending the presentation, Daniel showed how his Chef Trainer combined coding fundamentals and creativity to make a simple, functional simulator. His project brought real-world cooking steps into the digital realm, making learning interactive and fun.
