Drews Mitchell

Drews Mitchell brings over two decades of experience in school counseling, college advising and career development to his practice. Since July 2012, he has served as School and College/Career Counselor at Loveland High School, where he develops and implements strategies for post-secondary exploration, research and planning with students in grades 6-12 while coordinating experiential learning programs. In November 2022, he founded Vision Career Counseling to provide remote support for clients seeking clarity about specific steps toward success. His objective centers on utilizing his passion for relationship development, vision planning, communication and teamwork to help students, parents, clients and schools navigate the complex college and career landscape.

From June 2014 to November 2022, Drews worked as an Independent College Counselor with LEAP, assisting Greater Cincinnati families during evenings and weekends to navigate college admissions. Before transitioning to counseling, he spent 14 years at Lakota Local Schools, where he taught music and served as a counselor, managing college information coordination, scholarship and financial aid programs, and serving as department chair for counseling from 2010 to 2012. His background includes developing student achievement through music performance, coordinating events and developing organizational vision.

Drews also served as Ensemble Director at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Prep Program from 2006 to 2014, developing intermediate-level jazz curriculum and coordinating teaching teams. He taught at The Summit Country Day School from 1995 to 1997, where he coordinated faculty efforts in developing an instrumental music program. His unique combination of arts education background, school counseling expertise and independent practice experience positions him to support students across diverse interests, particularly those pursuing creative and performing arts pathways.
