About the Innovator

My project is called Traffic Lights with Music. It uses a Micro:bit to light up red, yellow, and green LEDs in order, with music for each light. When the red light glows, it plays a note and shows “Stop”. The yellow light plays a melody and shows “Ready”, while the green light plays a higher melody and shows “Go” with an arrow. After the sequence, a happy icon appears, and the cycle repeats. This project combines coding, music, and visual signals creatively.

I am excited to present my Micro:bit project called Traffic Lights with Music. I wanted to make a project that combines lights, music, and interactive signals, just like real traffic lights!

The project works by lighting up red, yellow, and green LEDs in sequence. First, the red light glows, and the Micro:bit plays a short music note while showing the word “Stop” on the screen. After that, the red light turns off, and the yellow light turns on. It plays a melody using middle F, G, and A notes, and the screen displays “Ready”, alerting drivers to prepare.

Next, the yellow light turns off, and the green light turns on. This time, the Micro:bit plays a higher melody using high D and F notes. The screen shows “Go” along with an arrow pointing north, signaling permission to move. Once the green light goes off, a happy icon appears, and the program pauses for a few seconds before starting the sequence again.

I used pause blocks, LED controls, melody blocks, and display strings to program this project. The lights loop continuously, and the combination of music, lights, and messages makes it both fun and educational. This project taught me how coding can control electronics, display information, and even play music at the same time. I hope everyone enjoys seeing how traffic lights can come alive with coding!
