Fredina James

Fredina James is a counselor and consultant serving the Washington DC–Baltimore area, with extensive experience supporting students across academic, personal, college, and career domains. As Co-Chief Executive Officer of Educational Architects Consulting, she designs and delivers professional development in literacy and STEM instruction, creates college and career readiness curricula for high school students, and supports districts in aligning programs to research-based practices. Her work with teachers and undergraduates around culturally and linguistically responsive teaching reflects a strong commitment to equity and access in education.

Across nearly two decades in County Public Schools in Prince George, Fredina has served as both a teacher and school counselor, providing comprehensive counseling services and creating stimulating learning environments for diverse learners. She has used research-based strategies to support both strong and struggling readers and writers, monitored instructional quality in reading programs, and vetted resources to strengthen literacy instruction. In her role Upward Bound program at Howard University, she designed and facilitated lesson plans on self-image, time management, college planning, communication, and career decision making, helping first-generation college-bound students navigate the transition to higher education with confidence.

Her current and prior roles highlight a dual focus on direct student support and systemic improvement. Fredina combines counseling expertise with program development, curriculum design, and professional learning to help schools and organizations build structures that foster academic growth, social-emotional development, and postsecondary readiness for all students.
