The program is powered by S2Tech and Fortune Fund. The project is the brainchild of Pulipati Muneeswar, Pavan Kumar Reddy Mittapalli, Veerapalli Naveen Kumar, and Diwakar Reddy Ramireddy.
There is a growing concern around diabetes across the world. The numbers are astounding – 1.6 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year. Another 2.2 million deaths were attributable to high blood glucose, every year.
Both the number of cases and the prevalence of diabetes have been steadily increasing over the past few decades. There is a great need for people to change their lifestyle and food habits, in order to control their blood sugar levels and not be affected by diabetes or pre-diabetes.
You need to eat well and maintain a healthy, regular diet to be in your best physical condition. However, it is hard to expect every individual to have knowledge of various ingredients and their usage. It is also very difficult to get a personalized diet as it can be very costly and requires maximum effort and consistency. Moreover, it is a time-consuming process.
We believe food is the best cure. Therefore, we came up with a solution where we provide affordable subscription-based personalized meals for the customers at their doorstep every day. We have a variety of options for all kinds of people. For people with diabetes, pre-diabetes, fitness freaks, and normal people who want to stay healthy, we provide personalized meals by tracking their activity through a smartphone.
When it comes to the size of the market, there are over 422 million diabetic patients around the world. India is home to 77 million diabetic patients and the number is expected to reach 123 million by 2040. The diabetic food market is nearly USD$9.2 billion with 12% growth annually. Global Health & Wellness food market is $733 billion and it is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2026.
The customers can register on the site, upload their reports and preferences. Our app will track the customers’ health data and further send them to a diabetologist or nutritionist, who will provide them with the best diet plan. Thereafter, the food will be prepared in our Ghost Kitchen and delivered to the customer.
We will build an app that contains home, food items, progress, and my account sections. The homepage of the app will display your goals and diet plans. The app will track your activity by integrating with smartwatches and recommend you a personalized diet every day. It will also remind you to meet your fitness goals at regular intervals through notifications.
Firstly, we plan to start by serving limited customers in our community to improve and iterate the quality of our product.
During phase-2, we plan to introduce new features on the app and website and also release our marketing campaign.
During phase-3, we plan to install new kitchens considering the demand. We will also start diabetes and social health groups for general awareness and promote sugar kitchens.
We plan to start out with our venture by launching in Bangalore first. It has an above-average diabetes prevalence rate of 12.33% for ages 35 years and above. More importantly, people there have high purchasing competence compared to other cities.
We will set up ghost kitchens and partner with diabetic hospitals, gyms, and delivery services. The partnered hospitals and gyms will be promoted on sugar kitchen platforms. They will get a 5% commission for every referral.
