Roxboro Road Middle School, with a student base of about 705 students in grades 5–7, is located in Syracuse and maintains a student-teacher ratio of about 10 to 1 with 63-68 full-time equivalent teachers, as well as two counselors. About 24 % of the students meet the proficiency level for math, and 31 % meet the reading standard, placing it in the lower half of the state. Roughly 31 % of the students are minorities, and gender is fairly balanced (over half of the students are economically disadvantaged).
The school represents Mattydale's working-class environment, where the median assessed home values on Zillow (or the tax assessment office) are currently $116K or $193K, depending on the source. Under the direction of Principal Heather Pellegrino, the school seems ready to combine local history with honest effort—a discreetly sincere step for any parent looking for best elementary school type standards.
