PS/MS 194 embraces its role in the district’s academic turnaround, and creates a safe, supportive, high achieving environment for all K-8 students. The school recently hosted its annual “Career Horizons” day, where guest speakers came to tell their stories and promote lifelong academic excellence. The campus continues to engage parents through its new digital feedback portal and its monthly community leadership meetings.
Q1. What type of support does PS/MS 194 provide for students transitioning from elementary to middle-school grades?
Ans. Our “Bridge Program” helps fifth graders transition to changing classes and more independent academic responsibilities on our PK-8 campus.
Q2. Do PS/MS 194 upper elementary grade students have the opportunity to participate in competitive team sports?
Ans. Students have the opportunity to participate in our "Tiger Athletics" program. “We have soccer and basketball leagues that are seasonal and focus on teamwork skills.
Q3. What character building programs are implemented at the PS/MS 194 Campus?
Ans. The “Values First” program is designed to acknowledge students who demonstrate outstanding integrity and leadership through their everyday interactions throughout the school.
Q4. Does PS/MS 194 offer students the chance to get involved in digital music or recording arts?
Ans. In our Fine Arts department, we have an elective called "Media Studio" for students that are learning the basics of digital music composition and editing.
Q5. What is the role of parents in beautifying and planning the campus at PS/MS 194?
Ans. We have “Community Pride Days” where families volunteer for gardening and mural projects to keep our school looking its best for the kids.
