Being Updated
In recent times, there is a news that Natcher Elementary School unveiled a stunning new outdoor art installation of a huge wooden jaguar statue called "JJ the Jaguar" on the school grounds. Principal Matt Thornhill led the project, which was supported by volunteer parents, students, and local businesses. They used donated and recycled materials to build the lion-like figure, which fits with the school's mascot and spirit. The jaguar sculpture is a creative outdoor classroom where people can think, read, talk in small groups, and learn about nature. Thornhill said that the installation gives students a chance to "step away and unplug" while working together outside, which is important in a time when technology is becoming more common. There is also a time capsule and a geocaching spot built into the statue as part of the project. These are meant to get people excited and make them feel like they own the statue for years to come. This program shows that Natcher Elementary is dedicated to creating new ways for students to learn and to bringing students, the community, and nature together.
