It serves students in grades K–5. There are about 780 to 800 students at the school, and there is one teacher for every 22 students. Ernest Stapleton Elementary has a strong academic program that focuses on reading, math, and the overall growth of students. It also has Gifted & Talented and English Language Learner (ELL) support services. About 39% of students are good at math and about 45% are good at reading, which is about the same as or better than the state average.
