Sriansh’s Magic 8 Ball project brings a pocket-sized fortune teller to life using a Micro:bit. Inspired by the classic 1946 toy, it delivers playful yes-or-no answers—Yes, No, or Meh—by detecting a shake with its accelerometer and displaying the result on the LED screen. Future upgrades like creative responses, sound effects, and animations could make this interactive tool even more fun and engaging!
Ever wished you had a pocket-sized fortune teller? I created a Magic 8 Ball using a Micro:bit that predicts answers to your yes-or-no questions with a simple shake. Inspired by the classic toy invented by Abe Bookman in 1946, my version uses digital magic to reveal your fate in the form of playful messages.
The way it works is simple yet exciting. When you shake the Micro:bit, the accelerometer detects the motion and triggers a random response. I programmed the Micro:bit to generate a random number between 1 and 3, with each number corresponding to a different answer—Yes, No, or Meh. The selected response then appears on the LED display, giving you instant advice or leaving you guessing with its ambiguous "Meh."
In the future, I’d love to expand this project by adding more creative responses, sound effects, or even animations for each answer. With these upgrades, the Magic 8 Ball could become an even more engaging and interactive tool for quick decisions or just some light-hearted fun!
